Windows Live Mail tutorial shows how to setup Windows Live Mail to retrieve email from your accounts.

Open Windows Live Mail and choose "Tools" from the menu bar.

Choose "Accounts" and click on the mail tab when the "Internet Accounts" manager window appears.

Click on the "Add" button and then on "Email Account"

Enter your email address, password and display name. Then select the checkbox to "Manually configure server settings for email account".
Click NEXT.

Next, the wizard asks for your server information. It is a POP3 server (this is pre-selected). Then you must enter the incoming server name - this is mail.yourdomain.co.za (substitute "yourdomain" with your own domain name). If you have a .com or .net domain, then the last part must be changed from .co.za to .com

The LOGIN ID is your full email address

The Outgoing Server is your ISP, eg. use smtp.saix.net if you are using Telkom ADSL - you can view a full list of outgoing servers here

lick on "NEXT" and then on "FINISH".

  • To retrieve your mail, in the Windows Live Mail window, click on "Sync" (top menubar).
  • For more detailed instructions, please see the Microsoft tutorial.

Note: If you have difficulty sending emails, you may need to use a different Outgoing Server. This page explains how to quickly and easily configure your outgoing server.
